I have had the opportunity to work with a lot of wonderful and dedicated Athletic Trainers since beginning my Jason Cates journey in this profession 6 years ago. But none of those compared to the wonderful experience I had of working with Jason Cates. I had the chance to work with Jason when I was doing my senior internship during my last semester at Henderson State University.
He took me under his wing and taught me so much in such a short period of time. I got to see how much he loved his job at Cabot Public Schools and how much he was loved and appreciated by those who he met and worked with. He became not only a role model for many of the students that came through his training room, he became my role model as well. As a new graduate assistant athletic trainer struggling with the transition from student to actually working, he was always available to talk and give me advice on how to handle situations that I had never faced before. Without Jason Cates I don’t believe athletic training in Arkansas would have made the progress that it has. He has such a passion and drive to make sure that all high school student athletes in the state get the care and treatment they deserve while playing high school athletics.
I am truly grateful for the chance to not only get to know him but get to learn and grow on a professional level because of him. He is my role model and I strive to make him proud every day. I am thankful for all he has done for me and all he has done for so many others.
Jason was nominated by Caitlin Riley at Southeastern Oklahoma State University.

I would like to nominate Aubry Fisk as a mentor and as an Athletic Trainer that is very well respected in the NorthAubry Fisk Texas area. He works at North Texas Orthopedics in Grapevine TX.
The reason that I am nominating him is because he has dedicated the past 49 years to our profession. He is in the SWATA hall of fame and he has always been willing to listen to me when I have challenges professionally. His reputation has always been one who truly cares about looking out for others before himself. He has a “servant attitude” and continues to be well respected in our area.
Aubry is nominated by David Ortmeier.

Bob Waller is the head athletic trainer at the University of New Mexico. This year he was placed in a tough situation,Day 6 but his faith in God and the love for his family gave him motivation to persevere. As the Head AT, he already had enough on his plate by covering football. But after the football season, it was then required of him to have to step up and cover men’s basketball as well. This extra time away from his wife and three kids was hard and took its toll on him. Here at UNM, we under appreciate everything Bob does for us, and I would like to have this be a small token of our gratitude.
Bob was nominated by Jeremy Cobb.

I would like to nominate Ms. Traci Randermann to be recognized by CSMA for National Athletic Training Month. Randermann. She received her education from Texas State University and started her AT career at SFA in 2002. She now works for South Grand Prairie High School.
I was placed at South Grand Prairie (SGP) for my first clinical rotation. With this being my first experience as an Athletic Training student, I was very nervous going into the experience. From the very first day I met her, she took me under her wing and became someone I instantly admired and looked up to. There was never a moment she wasn’t teaching, sharing her experiences, or shining a light on the people around her . It was seriously the best learning environment and I was so blessed to spend a whole semester learning about her and soaking up her knowledge. She is involved in NTATS, leads the Fellowship of Christian Athletes at SGP, and is the front runner in leading and teaching the Sports Medicine Pathway at SGP. Along side with Ted Perry and Lance Gholston, they have about 16 student Athletic Training students who are the brightest and most knowledgeable kids I have ever seen. She wholeheartedly goes above and beyond to instill principles of life, which engages people to work harder and be the best they can be.
She is a perfect candidate for this type of recognition. She is rooted in love and she is a role model that is constantly motivating and inspiring other people. Her contributions within the community surpasses expectations and she pushes the profession forward.
Thank you so much Ms. Traci for playing a part in my growing love for AT. I am forever grateful. You are THEBOMB.COM!
Ms. Traci was nominated by Brittany Blunt, University of Texas at Arlington.

My sister in law deserves to be recognized. Her name is Tana Drennan. She has been an athletic trainer for around 10Drennan years. She is an awesome role model to all the kids she works with. She currently works for Dr. Steven Wilson, Orthopedic Surgeon in Wichita Falls, TX (OSTC is the actual name of his facility). In the time that I have been in her life I have met many students that she has worked with. They all adore her. She haseven taken students in who had no where to go. This last October she was expecting a baby. The baby had to be taken by emergency C Section due to low amniotic fluid. (She was still working at this time even though she was less than a month away from scheduled delivery). Her baby Jeremiah Thomas was born with blueberry spots all over his body. They were care flighted to Cooks. The baby lived around 8 days and then passed away. Even though they did an autopsy they have not been able to determine at this time what was wrong with our angel Jeremiah. Further testing is being conducted still to date.
During this trying time Tana remained faithful to God and depended on Him for her strength. She was a rock and never faltered in her love of the Lord. She spoke at the funeral about the fact that God does things for a reason. She has come to believe through her faith in God that Jeremiah was born so she could share her story of strength and faith with others. A true testament to the influence Tana has on the athletes she works with was the amount of “her kids” that came to the funeral. They had to load 2 school busses just to bring them all to the funeral.
She is the strongest person I know and she is a wonderful Christian example to all she comes into contact with. She is the best of example anyone could ever want for their child.
Thank you Tana for all you do for the profession of Athletic Training!#NATM2015
